Dial-Up Connection for Win Xp |

- From
the Start menu, Choose Control Panel.
- If you
are running Windows XP in classic mode, your will need
to select the Start menu, select Settings, then choose
Control Panel.
- Click
the Switch to Classic View icon.
- Double-click
the Network Connections icon.
- Click
the Create a new connection icon.
- Click the
Next button.
- Select
Connect to the Internet. Then click the Next button.
- Select
Set up my connection manually. Then click the Next button.
- Select
Connect using a dial-up modem . Then click the Next button.
- In the
ISP Name field, type a name to identify your connection.
Then click the Next button.
- In the
Phone number field, type your local access number exactly
as it needs to be dialed. Click the Next button.
Note: If you require 10-digit dialing
in order to access a local number, make sure to include
your area code. Remember to check with your local telephone
company to make sure that the number you choose is a local
toll-free call.
- In the
User name field, type your email address. Next, in the
Password field, type your password. In the Confirm password
field, type your password. Now uncheck the box next to
Use this account name and password when anyone connects
to the Internet from this computer. Uncheck the box next
to Make this the default Internet connection. Uncheck
the box next to Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for
this connection. Then click the Next button.
- Check
the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my
desktop if you wish to have a shortcut to the connection
on your desktop. Then click the Finish button.
- lose all
windows. From the Start menu, choose Connect To.
- If you
are running Windows XP in classic mode, from the Start
menu, click Settings, and choose Network Connections.
- Click on
the Networking tab. Next, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
in the This connection uses the following items list.
Then click the Properties button.
- Select
Use the following DNS server address. In the Preferred
DNS server field, type one of the DNS servers for your
domain. In the Alternate DNS server field, type one of
the DNS servers for your domain. Then Click the OK button.
- Click the
OK button.
- Close all
windows.
- You have
successfully created a Dial-up Connection in Windows XP.

- Click the
Start button, click Settings and choose Control Panel.
- Double-click
the Network and Dial-up Connections icon.
- Double-click
the Make New Connection icon.
- Click
the Next button.
- Select
Dial-up to the Internet. Then Click the Next button.
- Select
I want to set up my Internet connection manually, or I
want to connect through a local area network (LAN). Then
click the Next button.
- Select
I connect through a phone line and a modem. Then click
the Next button.
- In the
Area Code field, type the area code of your local access
number. In the Telephone number field, type your local
access number. Then click the Advanced button.
- Click
on the Connection tab. Next, click the PPP (Point to Point
Protocol) radio button in the Connection type area. Now
check the box next to Disable LCP Extensions. Then click
the None radio button in the Logon procedure area.
- Click on
the Addresses tab. Next, click the Always use the following
radio button in the DNS server address area. In the Primary
DNS server field, type a DNS server specific to your domain.
In the Alternate DNS server field, type another DNS server
specific to your domain. Then click the OK button.
- Click
the Next button.
- In the
User name field, type your email address. In the Password
field, type your password. Then click the Next button
- In the
Connection Name field, type your domain name. Then click
the Next button.
- Click the
No radio button in the Do you want to set up an Internet
mail account now area. Then click the Next button.
- Check the
box next to To connect to the Internet immediately...if
you would like to connect right away to the Internet.
Then click the Finish button.
- You have
successfully configured Windows 2000 to connect to the
Internet.

- From
the Start menu, click Settings, and choose Dial-Up Networking.
- Double-click
the Make New Connection icon.
- In the
Type a name for the computer you are dialing field, type
in your provider. Next, click the down arrow on the Select
a device drop-down list and choose your default modem.
Then click the Next button.
- In the
Area code field, type in your local area code. In the
Telephone number field, type your local access number.
Then click the Next button.
Note: Remember to make sure that the
number you choose is a local toll-free call.
- Click
the Finish button
- Click the
New Dial-up icon with your right mouse button, then choose
Properties
- Click
on the Networking tab. Click the down arrow on the Type
of Dial-Up Server: drop-down list and choose PPP: Internet,
Windows 2000/NT, Windows Me. Uncheck all the boxes except
for Enable software compression and TCP/IP. Then click
the TCP/IP Settings... button.
- Select
Specify name server addresses. In the Primary DNS field,
type the primary DNS given to you by your provider. In
the Secondary DNS field, type in the secondary DNS given
to you by your provider. Then click the OK button.
- Click
on the Security tab. In the User name field, type in your
email address. In the Password field, type in your password.
Click the OK button.
- Click
the New Dial-up icon with your right mouse button, then
choose Create Shortcut.
- Click
the Yes button.
- You are
now set up in Dial-Up Networking.

- Double
click on My Computer icon.
- Double
click on Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Now double
click on the Make New Connection icon.
- Under
"Type a name for the computer you are dialing"
field, type EZ Publishing where you see 'my isp' in the
example below.
- Click
the Configure button.
- Check that
the appropriate speed for your modem is highlighted (for
14.4 modems use 19200, for 28.8 and 33.6 modems use 38400
and for 56K modems use 57600.)
- Make sure
that the Only connect at this speed option is not checked.
- Click
the OK button, click Next button.
- In the
Area code and Telephone number text boxes, type your local
access number. Remember to check with your local telephone
company to make sure that the number you choose is a local
toll-free call.
- Click
the Next button.
- Click
the Finish button.
- Click
on the icon in Dialup Networking with the right mouse
button.
- Choose
Properties. You may also left click once on the icon and
go to the File menu and select Properties.
- Click on
Server Types tab (on some older versions of Windows this
will be a button located to the right of the Configure
button)
- For Type
of Dial-Up Server, select the first item on the list.
- Make sure
that the TCP/IP, and Enable software compression boxes
are the only ones selected.
- with check
marks are Click the TCP/IP Settings button.
- Select
the Server assigned IP address button.
- Select
the Specify name server addresses button.
- Check beside
both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway
on remote network.
- Click the
OK button about 3 times to get back to the Dial-up Networking
window.
- Click the
OK button about 3 times to get back to the Dial-up Networking
window.
- Drag the
Hamdard connection icon to your desktop.
- When you
see a message saying You cannot move or copy this item
to this location.
- Do you
want to create a shortcut to the item instead?, click
the Yes button.
